CET and Emmanuel Family Life Center form a Collaborative Partnership

The Emmanuel Family Life Center and the Sobrato Center for Employment Training have renewed their collaborative partnership to provide services in San Jose, CA, to the hard to serve persons with multiple barriers to employment. Services will include core, intensive, ESL, and occupational training.

As part of the Governor's Faith Based Initiative, The Emmanuel Family Life Center (EFLC) received a generous grant from the State of California EDD to provide occupational skills training and employment services, and will collaborate with CET to provide these services under this contract. The Emmanuel Family Life Center will refer potential students to CET, and will announce information about CET at the Emmanuel Baptist Church services.

CET will provide occupational skills training and an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) to each person referred by EFLC. This IEP will include the supportive service needs of an individual, including the necessary remedial and language skills development that is required to succeed in training. All of the training provided will be in the context of the unique skill that is being taught. CET will also provide job preparation skills training, including resume preparation, job interviewing skills, job search skills, salary negotiations, career planning and job retention skills. The Emmanuel Family Life Center will continue to provide supportive services, coaching and tutoring services to students attending CET training!

Last year this collaborative partnership served 85 students.
